Goals (Should be explained alongside matching strategies). Matching Strategies (steps ta help reach goals)
I will complete my assigned work with effort. Review my work for mistakes before turning it in.
Ask questions if I don't understand the material.
I will follow directions as given respectfully. STOP and THINK before I do .
Eyes and ears on the teacher.
Use a low (indoor) voice when talking to the teacher
Be mindful of my facial expressions when I talk to the teacher.
I will use calming strategies when I am upset. Countdown from 10-0 (or another number through 0).
Think positive thoughts (think about a place or activity that
is calming).
Belly breathing. (students can pretend to smell the aroma of pizza
and then pretend to blow it off).
I will raise my hands to speak. Students can remember the phrase,"up with the hand, not out of my
mouth" and repeat it quietly to self in a classroom environment.
Role playing is helpful in practicing this strategy for the accompanying
goal.
